Installation

Choosing the Right Location

Selecting the ideal location for your CDA refrigerator is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Ensure that the chosen space is cool, dry, and well-ventilated. Avoid placing the refrigerator in direct sunlight or near heat sources such as ovens or radiators, as this can cause the appliance to overwork and increase energy consumption.

The area should have sufficient space around it for air circulation—at least 2 inches from the wall and other appliances. Also, consider the convenience of access and proximity to a power outlet and a water line if your model includes a water dispenser.

Unpacking the Refrigerator

Carefully unpack your CDA refrigerator to avoid damage. Begin by removing any tape or temporary packaging used to secure doors and shelves during transport. The packaging should be carefully removed and properly discarded, keeping in mind any recycling instructions provided.

Inspect the refrigerator for any visible damage. If you notice dents, scratches, or missing components, contact the retailer or service support immediately. Check inside the refrigerator and freezer compartments for all included accessories and documentation.

Tools and Materials Required

Before installation, gather the necessary tools and materials:

• Measuring tape
• Spirit level for leveling
• Adjustable wrench
• Screwdriver set
• Towels or cloths to wipe surfaces
• Pipe cutter if modifying a water line
• Teflon tape for water connection (if applicable)

Having these tools ready will streamline the installation process and help ensure that the refrigerator is set up correctly.

Leveling the Refrigerator

Proper leveling is essential to the refrigerator's correct functioning. An uneven refrigerator can lead to refrigerant imbalance, door sealing issues, and increased noise.

Use a spirit level and adjust the front leveling legs to make the refrigerator level both front-to-back and side-to-side. Many models have adjustable feet that can be turned by hand or with a wrench. Once the appliance is level, ensure the doors open and close smoothly and seal properly.

Connecting Water Supply (for models with water dispenser)

For models equipped with a water dispenser or ice maker, connecting to a water supply is necessary. Use a water line compatible with your refrigerator model, typically 1/4-inch copper or braided steel tubing.

1. Turn off the water supply.
2. Attach one end of the tubing to the refrigerator’s water inlet valve.
3. Use Teflon tape around the threads to ensure a water-tight connection.
4. Connect the other end of the tubing to the main water line.
5. Turn the water supply back on and check for leaks.

Electrical Requirements and Power Connection

Ensure that the power outlet intended for your refrigerator meets electrical requirements—typically a standard 120-volt grounded outlet. Avoid extension cords or ungrounded adapters, as these could lead to electrical hazards.

Once connected to power, check that the refrigerator turns on correctly and that the internal lights and control panel are functioning.

Initial Setup and Calibration

After power and water connection, configure the initial settings of your refrigerator. This includes setting the desired temperatures for the fridge and freezer compartments using the control panel.

Most models recommend an initial setting of around 37°F (3°C) for the refrigerator and 0°F (-18°C) for the freezer. Allow the appliance a few hours to stabilize these temperatures.
