Installation
Unpacking Your Refrigerator
When you first receive your ColdTech Refrigerator, handle it with care to avoid any damage. Carefully remove all packaging materials and tape from the appliance. Inspect for any visible damage or missing parts. If any issues are present, contact ColdTech Customer Service immediately.
Choosing the Right Location
Select a location for your refrigerator that meets the following criteria:
- Flat Surface: Ensure the floor is level and sturdy enough to support the appliance's weight.
- Ventilation: Allow a minimum of 2 inches of space on each side and above the refrigerator for proper air circulation.
- Away from Heat Sources: Do not install near ovens, dishwashers, or direct sunlight, as excessive heat can hinder performance.
- Accessibility: Consider the door swing and ensure there's enough space for the doors to open fully.
Electrical Requirements
Before plugging in your refrigerator, verify that your home's electrical system meets the following requirements:
- Circuit: Ensure you have a dedicated 110/120-volt, 60 Hz grounded electrical circuit.
- Outlet: The refrigerator requires a standard three-prong outlet. Avoid using extension cords or adapters.
Note: Installation must comply with all national and local electrical codes and ordinances.
Leveling Your Refrigerator
Proper leveling ensures efficient operation and prevents undesirable noises:
- Locate Leveling Legs: Find the leveling legs at the base of the refrigerator.
- Adjust Legs: Rotate the legs clockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower the unit.
- Use a Level: Place a level on top of the refrigerator to ensure it's even horizontally and vertically.
Connecting the Water Supply
If your model includes an ice maker or water dispenser, you’ll need to connect the water supply:
- Turn Off Water Supply: Shut off the main water supply.
- Connect Tubing: Attach the supplied water line to the valve connection on the back of the refrigerator.
- Turn On Water Supply: Slowly turn on the water, checking for leaks. Tighten connections as necessary.
- Purge Air and Contaminants: Allow water to run through the dispenser for a few minutes to clear air and impurities.
Installing and Removing Handles
Handles may need to be installed after delivery:
- Locate Handle Mounts: Identify the designated brackets on the door.
- Align Handles: Position the handles over the mounts.
- Secure Handles: Tighten screws using the provided wrench, ensuring they’re firm but not overtightened.
To remove handles, reverse the steps above.
Adjusting the Doors
Ensure doors align properly to maintain an even seal:
- Check Alignment: Stand back and visually inspect the door alignment.
- Adjust Hinges: Use a screwdriver to adjust the door hinges. Loosen or tighten as necessary.
- Re-evaluate Seal: Ensure the doors close evenly without significant gaps.
By following these guidelines, you’ll ensure your ColdTech Refrigerator is installed correctly for optimal performance and longevity.
