Installation

Choosing the Right Location

Selecting the perfect spot for your Moffat refrigerator is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Ensure that the location is well-ventilated, away from direct sunlight, and free from external heat sources such as ovens and radiators. Allow a minimum of two inches of clearance on all sides to guarantee proper airflow. Position the refrigerator away from high-traffic areas to prevent unintentional bumps or damage.

Unpacking the Refrigerator

Upon delivery, carefully remove the packaging materials, ensuring not to damage the appliance. Check for any transit damage, and inspect items such as shelves, drawers, and ice trays for completeness. Save the packaging in case you need to transport or store the refrigerator in the future. Avoid using sharp objects during unpacking to prevent scratches or other superficial damage.

Installing the Refrigerator

• Leveling the Appliance:
  For efficient operation and reduced noise, ensure that the refrigerator stands level. Use an adjustable wrench to rotate the leveling feet located at the front corners of the appliance. Place a spirit level on top of the refrigerator to check the alignment and adjust as needed until perfectly level.

• Securing Adequate Ventilation:
  Adequate ventilation is crucial for maintaining your refrigerator’s performance. Position the refrigerator with at least two inches between the back of the appliance and the wall. Ensure that ventilation grilles are free from obstruction and regularly cleaned of dust and debris.

• Electrical Requirements:
  Confirm that the electrical supply matches the requirements stated on the refrigerator’s rating label (usually located inside the door panel). This appliance should be connected to its dedicated circuit to prevent overloads. Use only a grounded power outlet for safety. Avoid using extension cords or adapters.

Water Line Connection

For models with water dispensers or ice makers, a water line connection is necessary. Follow these steps:

1. Locate the water connection point at the back of the appliance and ensure compatibility with household plumbing.
2. Turn off the main water supply.
3. Connect the water line, ensuring each end is properly sealed with Teflon tape to avoid leaks.
4. Use a secure, food-grade water hose for installation.
5. Turn the water supply back on and check for any leakage at connection points.

Initial Setup Procedures

• Temperature Settings:
  Once installed, adjust the temperature settings to the manufacturer’s recommended settings—usually around 37 degrees Fahrenheit (3 degrees Celsius) for the refrigerator compartment and 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 degrees Celsius) for the freezer. Allow 24 hours for the appliance to reach optimal temperatures.

• Purging Air from the Water Line:
  After connecting the water line, it’s essential to purge air from the system. Run the water dispenser for approximately three minutes or until the water flows steadily without sputtering. This process helps eliminate air pockets, reducing the risk of damage to the internal filters or dispensing mechanism.
